According to Section 409(h)(1)(C) of the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act, food contact substance notifications (FCNs) are effective only for the listed manufacturer and its customers. Other manufacturers must submit their own FCN for the same food contact substance and intended use.
Food Contact Substance: 2-Propenoic acid, 2-methyl-, polymer with butyl 2-propenoate, cyclohexyl 2-methyl-2-propenoate, methyl 2-methyl-2-propenoate, 2-oxiranylmethyl 2-methyl-2-propenoate, 1,2-propanediol mono(2-methyl-2-propenoate) and 2-propen-1-yl 2-methyl-2-propenoate (CAS Reg. No. 1874228-60-0).

Intended Use: As a component of resinous and polymeric coatings as described in 21 CFR 175.300, except for use in contact with infant formula and human milk (see Limitations/Specifications).
Limitations/Specifications: The FCS will be used in coatings at a maximum use level of 80% by weight of the dry coatings and an application rate not to exceed 3.1 milligrams per square inch. Food-contact coatings made with the FCS must meet the specifications in 21 CFR 175.300(c) when tested using analytical methods described in 21 CFR 175.300(e) and (f). The FCS is intended to be used in contact food types I, II, VI (excluding beverages containing greater than 15% alcohol), VIIB, and VIII under Conditions of use A through H as specified in 21 CFR 175.300(d) Table 2. The FCS is not for use in contact with infant formula and human milk. Such uses were not included as part of the intended use of the substance in the FCN.
