Akzo Nobel Coatings Inc.

According to Section 409(h)(1)(C) of the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act, food contact substance notifications (FCNs) are effective only for the listed manufacturer and its customers. Other manufacturers must submit their own FCN for the same food contact substance and intended use.
Food Contact Substance: Glycidyl methacrylate (CAS Reg. No. 106-91-2).

Manufacturer/Supplier: Akzo Nobel Coatings Inc.
Intended Use: As a monomer in the manufacture of acrylic copolymers complying with 21 CFR 175.300 (b)(3)(xx) for use as components of resinous and polymeric coatings, except for use in contact with infant formula and human milk (see Limitations/Specifications).
Limitations/Specifications: The finished coating containing the FCS may contact food types I, II, VI (excluding beverages containing greater than 15% alcohol), VII-B, and VIII under Conditions of Use A through H as specified in 21 CFR 175.300(d), Table 2. The FCS will be used at maximum level of 0.4 mg/in2 in the final coating. The FCS is not for use in contact with infant formula and human milk. Such uses were not included as part of the intended use of the substance in the FCN.
