According to Section 409(h)(1)(C) of the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act, food contact substance notifications (FCNs) are effective only for the listed manufacturer and its customers. Other manufacturers must submit their own FCN for the same food contact substance and intended use.
Food Contact Substance: Hydrogenated styrene butadiene block copolymers (CAS Reg. No. 66070-58-4).
Notifier: SABIC Innovative Plastics
Manufacturer/Supplier: SHPP US LLC
Intended Use: As a component of repeated-use articles for use in contact with Food Types III, IV-A, V, VII-A, and IX identified in Table 1 at temperatures up to 100°C.
Limitations/Specifications: (1) The polymer will meet the specifications set forth under 21 CFR 177.1810(b), item (3)(i). (2) Adjuvant substances permitted for use in polymers complying with 21 CFR 177.1810 may be used in the subject copolymers subject to any limitations regarding Conditions of Use or Food Types in the authorizing regulation or notification.
