According to Section 409(h)(1)(C) of the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act, food contact substance notifications (FCNs) are effective only for the listed manufacturer and its customers. Other manufacturers must submit their own FCN for the same food contact substance and intended use.
Food Contact Substance: Extruded polystyrene (CAS Reg. No. 9003-53-6) and cross-linked polyvinylpyrrolidone (CAS Reg. No. 9003-39-8).

Intended Use: As a repeat-use clarifying agent during the manufacture of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages.
Limitations/Specifications: Good manufacturing practice level of use of the FCS in beverages (commonly used at 80 -150 g/100 L, depending on the characteristics of the beverage). The FCS is subsequently removed from the final product by filtration. The FCS is expected to serve 100 cycles.
