According to Section 409(h)(1)(C) of the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act, food contact substance notifications (FCNs) are effective only for the listed manufacturer and its customers. Other manufacturers must submit their own FCN for the same food contact substance and intended use.
Food Contact Substance: A copolymer of styrene and butadiene having a styrene monomer unit content of 60 percent - 74 percent.

Manufacturer/Supplier: INEOS Styrolution Group GmbH
Intended Use: As a component in the manufacture of articles intended to contact food.
Limitations/Specifications: The FCS is intended to contact all types of food under Conditions of Use A through H, as described in Table 2. Adjuvant substances permitted for use in rubber-modified polystyrene complying with 21 CFR 177.1640 may be used in the copolymer that is the subject of this notification, subject to any limitations in the authorizing regulation or notification.
