According to Section 409(h)(1)(C) of the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act, food contact substance notifications (FCNs) are effective only for the listed manufacturer and its customers. Other manufacturers must submit their own FCN for the same food contact substance and intended use.
Food Contact Substance: Ethylene/hexene copolymers containing up to 25 weight percent polymer units derived from hexene (CAS Reg. No. 25213-02-9).

Intended Use: The FCS will be used as articles or components of articles intended to contact all food types under Conditions of Use A through H, as described in Table 2.
Limitations/Specifications: Ethylene/hexene copolymers shall have a density of 0.87 - 0.93 and a minimum number-average molecular weight of 14,000 Daltons. Adjuvant substances permitted for use in olefin copolymers complying with 21 CFR 177.1520(c), items 3.1 or 3.2 may be used in the manufacture of the subject copolymers, provided the limitations on the use of the adjuvant substances are met.
