According to Section 409(h)(1)(C) of the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act, food contact substance notifications (FCNs) are effective only for the listed manufacturer and its customers. Other manufacturers must submit their own FCN for the same food contact substance and intended use.
Food Contact Substance: Butanedioic acid, dimethyl ester, polymer with 4-hydroxy-2,2,6,6-tetramethyl-1-piperidineethanol (CAS Reg. No. 65447-77-0).
Notifier: Ciba Specialty Chemicals
Manufacturer/Supplier: BASF Corporation
Intended Use: For use as a stabilizer for rubber articles complying with 21 CFR 177.2600 (Rubber articles intended for repeated use).
Limitations/Specifications: At levels not to exceed 0.5 percent by weight of the finished product. The FCS will be limited to use in conveyor belts at room temperature or below. The conveyor belts may contact foods of all types.
