According to Section 409(h)(1)(C) of the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act, food contact substance notifications (FCNs) are effective only for the listed manufacturer and its customers. Other manufacturers must submit their own FCN for the same food contact substance and intended use.
Food Contact Substance: Phosphonic acid, (1-methyl-ethenyl)-, homopolymer, sodium salt (PIPPA) (CAS Reg. No. 118632-18-1)

Manufacturer/Supplier: Suez WTS USA, Inc.
Intended Use: For use as an anti-corrosive agent in the steam header and steam lines of boiler systems where the steam will contact food as described in 21 CFR 173.310
Limitations/Specifications: The FCS is intended to contact all food types (I-IX) under Conditions of Use A through H, as described in Tables 1 and 2. The maximum level of the FCS applied to the boiler water will be no more than 25 ppm as active material, with a maximum 1 wt.-% of the additive carried into the steam, thus not to exceed 0.25 ppm.
