According to Section 409(h)(1)(C) of the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act, food contact substance notifications (FCNs) are effective only for the listed manufacturer and its customers. Other manufacturers must submit their own FCN for the same food contact substance and intended use.
Food Contact Substance: 1,2-benzisothiazolin-3-one (CAS Reg. No. 2634-33-5).

Intended Use: The notifier intends to use the FCS as a wet state preservative (biocide) for styrene/acrylic or polymer lattices used in the manufacture of coatings (lacquer) which will be applied to the food contact side of single use articles made from aluminum foil for use with all food types under Conditions of Use B through H (see Table 2).
Limitations/Specifications: The FCS will not exceed 250 ppm in the wet emulsion. The wet coat weight will not exceed 1g/m2 on the food contact side of aluminum foil.
