Selective Micro Technologies, LLC

According to Section 409(h)(1)(C) of the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act, food contact substance notifications (FCNs) are effective only for the listed manufacturer and its customers. Other manufacturers must submit their own FCN for the same food contact substance and intended use.
Food Contact Substance: Chlorine Dioxide

Intended Use: As an antimicrobial agent in water used in poultry processing and to wash fruits and vegetables that are not raw agricultural commodities in an amount not to exceed 3ppm residual chlorine dioxide as determined by methods specified in 21 CFR 173.300. The treated fruits or vegetables will be further processed by blanching, canning or cooking, or consumed as fresh-cut fruits and vegetables.
Limitations/Specifications: The chlorine dioxide solution contains at least 90 percent by weight of chlorine dioxide with respect to all chlorine species as determined by Method 4500-Cl02-E.
