According to Section 409(h)(1)(C) of the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act, food contact substance notifications (FCNs) are effective only for the listed manufacturer and its customers. Other manufacturers must submit their own FCN for the same food contact substance and intended use.
Food Contact Substance: Titanium nitride (CAS Reg. No. 25583-20-4).

Manufacturer/Supplier: BryCoat Inc.
Intended Use: As a thin film ceramic coating applied to repeated-use metal component parts in food processing and packaging machinery and equipment to reduce part wear, friction and sticking of food materials.
Limitations/Specifications: The coating thickness will be in the range of 0.1 to 25 microns. The FCS may be used in contact with all food types and Conditions of Use, as described in Tables 1 and 2.
