According to Section 409(h)(1)(C) of the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act, food contact substance notifications (FCNs) are effective only for the listed manufacturer and its customers. Other manufacturers must submit their own FCN for the same food contact substance and intended use.
Food Contact Substance: Amorphous hydrogenated carbon coating produced from acetylene as the carbon source in a radio-frequency plasma as described in the notification.

Manufacturer/Supplier: Mitsubishi Shoji Plastics Corp.
Intended Use: As a coating on the interior of polyethylene terephthalate (PET) bottles used in single-use food-contact applications.
Limitations/Specifications: The amorphous hydrogenated carbon coating is intended for use at a thickness not to exceed 0.04 microns (0.0016 mil) and may be used in contact with food types I through IX, under Conditions of Use B through H , as described in Tables 1 and 2.
