According to Section 409(h)(1)(C) of the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act, food contact substance notifications (FCNs) are effective only for the listed manufacturer and its customers. Other manufacturers must submit their own FCN for the same food contact substance and intended use.
Food Contact Substance: D,L-Aspartic acid, N-(1,2-dicarboxyethyl)-, tetrasodium salt (CAS Reg. No. 144538-83-0).

Intended Use: The FCS is intended for use as a stabilizer for bleach used in the production of food-contact-paper and paperboard, added at the wet end.
Limitations/Specifications: The FCS shall be used at levels not to exceed 0.18 percent as active ingredient by weight of the dry pulp. Food-contact paper and paperboard containing the FCS are intended to contact all food types, subject to no temperature restriction.
