According to Section 409(h)(1)(C) of the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act, food contact substance notifications (FCNs) are effective only for the listed manufacturer and its customers. Other manufacturers must submit their own FCN for the same food contact substance and intended use.
Food Contact Substance: 2-Propenoic acid, methyl ester, telomer with 1-dodecanethiol, C16-C18 alkyl esters (CAS Reg. No. 174254-23-0).

Manufacturer/Supplier: Evonik Corporation
Intended Use: As a stabilizer and/or dispersant for olefin polymers intended for use in contact with food. The FCS may also be used in accordance with food additive regulations and effective notifications which incorporate by reference materials cleared in 21 CFR 177.1520, 178.2010, and 178.3725, provided such use is in olefin polymers.
Limitations/Specifications: The FCS may be used in polypropylene, including homopolymers and copolymers, at levels not to exceed 0.5 percent by weight; in low density polyethylene and linear low density polyethylene at levels not to exceed 0.2 percent by weight; in high density polyethylene, including homopolymers and copolymers, at levels not to exceed 0.3 percent by weight. The finished polymers may be used in contact with all food types under Conditions of Use B through H, as described in Table 2.
