According to Section 409(h)(1)(C) of the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act, food contact substance notifications (FCNs) are effective only for the listed manufacturer and its customers. Other manufacturers must submit their own FCN for the same food contact substance and intended use.

Intended Use: | The food-contact substance is intended for use at levels up to 10.3 percent in typical vinylidene chloride copolymers (PVdC) that in turn are used in the construction of multilayer materials used for packaging food. |
Limitations/Specifications: | The polyvinylidene chloride layer will be no more than 5 microns thick and will be separated from food by at least 29 microns of polymer. Such construction may be used in contact with all food types under Conditions of Use E through G, as described in Tables 1 and 2. |
