According to Section 409(h)(1)(C) of the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act, food contact substance notifications (FCNs) are effective only for the listed manufacturer and its customers. Other manufacturers must submit their own FCN for the same food contact substance and intended use.
Food Contact Substance: Styrene block copolymers with 1,3-butadiene, containing not less than 71 weight percent of polymer units derived from styrene, to which may be optionally added octadecyl 3,5-di-tert-butyl-4-hydroxyhydrocinnamate (CAS Reg. No. 2082-79-3) at levels not to exceed 0.25 percent by weight of the styrene block polymer.

Intended Use: As articles or components of articles intended for contact with all types of food.
Limitations/Specifications: The finished copolymer containing the optional adjuvant is intended for contact with all types of food under Conditions of Use E through G as described in Tables 1 and 2, respectively. The finished copolymers shall have a) a minimum number-average molecular weight (Mn) and weight-average (Mw) of 69,000 and 70,000, respectively; and b) glass transition points ranging from -98° to -20° and 86° to 122°.
