According to Section 409(h)(1)(C) of the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act, food contact substance notifications (FCNs) are effective only for the listed manufacturer and its customers. Other manufacturers must submit their own FCN for the same food contact substance and intended use.

Intended Use: As a monomer in the manufacture of acrylic copolymers complying with 21 CFR 175.300 (b)(3)(xx) for use as components of resinous and polymeric coatings, except for use in contact with infant formula and human milk (see Limitations/Specifications).
Limitations/Specifications: The FCS may be used at a maximum level of 0.4 mg/in2 in finished polymeric coatings intended to contact food types I, II, IV-B, VI (up to 15% alcohol), VII-B, and VIII under Conditions of Use A through H, as described in Tables 1 and 2 (see Enclosure 1). The FCS may be used at a maximum level of 0.18 mg/in2 in finished polymeric coatings intended for use contact with food type VI (up to 20% alcohol) under Conditions of Use C through G, or food type VI (up to 50% alcohol) under Conditions of Use E through G, as described in Tables 1 and 2. The FCS is not for use in contact with infant formula and human milk. Such uses were not included as part of the intended use of the substance in the FCN.
