According to Section 409(h)(1)(C) of the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act, food contact substance notifications (FCNs) are effective only for the listed manufacturer and its customers. Other manufacturers must submit their own FCN for the same food contact substance and intended use.
Food Contact Substance: Tin-based alloy, ASTM B23-49 Grade 1, for filling bearings made from extruded or molded carbon and graphite, which has the following composition: Tin (Balance); Antimony (4.0-5.0%); Copper (4.0-5.0%); Lead (0.004% maximum); Iron (0.05% maximum); Aluminum (0.005% maximum); Zinc (0.005% maximum); Arsenic (0.005% maximum); Bismuth (0.005% maximum); Total other elements (<0.005% maximum).

Intended Use: For use to fill bearings, made from extruded or molded carbon and graphite, intended for use in pumps, baking ovens and equipment for transporting or handling of food products.
