According to Section 409(h)(1)(C) of the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act, food contact substance notifications (FCNs) are effective only for the listed manufacturer and its customers. Other manufacturers must submit their own FCN for the same food contact substance and intended use.
Food Contact Substance: Nickel-iron alloy. Its composition is as follows: Ni (80-83 percent by weight), S (0-0.005 % by weight), C (0-0.005% by weight), Mo (1-3% by weight), Fe (14-19% by weight).

Intended Use: Used in seals for food processing equipment.
Limitations/Specifications: This metal would be used in a fine powder form in acrylonitrile/butadiene resin contacting meat products at up to 35°F, and fruit and vegetable products at up to 180°F.
