Huntsman Polyurethanes

According to Section 409(h)(1)(C) of the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act, food contact substance notifications (FCNs) are effective only for the listed manufacturer and its customers. Other manufacturers must submit their own FCN for the same food contact substance and intended use.
Food Contact Substance: Terephthaloyl dichloride (CAS Reg. No. 100-20-9).

Intended Use: As an acidifier or stabilizer for diphenyl methane-4,4'-diisocyanate prepolymer used in the manufacture of polyurethane for further manufacture of adhesives complying with 21 CFR 175.105.
Limitations/Specifications: For use in adhesives complying with 21 CFR 175.105, as a component of food packaging intended for use at temperatures of less than 120°F. The level of residual terephthaloyl dichloride shall not exceed 9 ppm in the finished adhesive.
