According to Section 409(h)(1)(C) of the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act, food contact substance notifications (FCNs) are effective only for the listed manufacturer and its customers. Other manufacturers must submit their own FCN for the same food contact substance and intended use.
Food Contact Substance: Polyethylene glycol mono-isotridecyl ether sulfate, sodium salt (CAS Reg. No. 150413-26-6).

Intended Use: As a surfactant in latex formulations used in pigment binders for paper and paperboard intended to contact aqueous, acidic, and low-alcohol foods.
Limitations/Specifications: For use only as a surfactant at a level not to exceed 1 percent by weight of solids in latex formulations used in pigment binders for paper and paperboard used in contact with food of Types I, II, IVB, VI (beverages below 15% alcohol by volume), VIIB, and VIII only, as described in Table 1. The polyethylene glycol mono-isotridecyl ether sulfate, sodium salt, solids may contain up to 15 weight percent of polyethylene glycol mono-isotridecyl ether (CAS Reg. No. 69011-36-5). The paper and paperboard containing this food contact substance must comply with the extractives limitations prescribed in 21 CFR 176.170(c).
