According to Section 409(h)(1)(C) of the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act, food contact substance notifications (FCNs) are effective only for the listed manufacturer and its customers. Other manufacturers must submit their own FCN for the same food contact substance and intended use.
Food Contact Substance: | Hydrogenated polymers prepared from one or more of the following: 1-hexene (CAS Reg. No. 592-41-6), 1-octene (CAS Reg. No. 111-66-0), 1-decene (CAS Reg. No. 872-05-9), 1-dodecene (CAS Reg. No. 112-41-4), and 1-tetradecene (CAS Reg. No. 1120-36-1). |

Intended Use: | 1) As an additive in pressure-sensitive adhesives that comply with 21 CFR 175.125. 2) As an additive in propylene homopolymers and copolymers complying with 21 CFR 177.1520(c) or that are the subject of an effective food contact notification. |
Limitations/Specifications: | 1) When used as an additive in pressure-sensitive adhesives, the FCS is intended to be used at levels up to 25 percent and it is intended to contact all types of food as described in Table 1 2) When used as an additive in propylene homopolymers and copolymers, the FCS has a minimum kinematic viscosity at 100oC of 3.8 centistokes. The FCS is intended to be used at levels up to 10 percent in propylene homopolymers and copolymers and it is intended to contact food types I, II, IVB, VIA, VIB, VIC (up to 15 percent alcohol), VIIB and VIII under Conditions of Use A through H as described in Tables 1 and 2. |
