According to Section 409(h)(1)(C) of the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act, food contact substance notifications (FCNs) are effective only for the listed manufacturer and its customers. Other manufacturers must submit their own FCN for the same food contact substance and intended use.
Food Contact Substance: Triphenyl phosphite, polymer with 1,4-cyclohexanedimethanol and polypropylene glycol,C10-16 alkyl esters (CAS Reg. No. 1821217-71-3). REPLACES FCN 1998

Intended Use: As an antioxidant and/or thermal stabilizer in polymeric food-contact articles, except for use in contact with infant formula and human milk (see Limitations/Specifications)
Limitations/Specifications: For use at levels not to exceed:
  1. 0.2% by weight in linear low-density polyethylene (LLDPE) in contact with all types of food under Conditions of Use A through H;
  2. 0.15% by weight in high-density polyethylene (HDPE) in contact with all types of food under Conditions of Use B through H;
  3. 1% by weight in adhesives and pressure-sensitive adhesives;
  4. 1% in can-end cements, and
  5. 1% in repeated-use food-contact applications.
The FCS may be used in conjunction with triisopropanolamine (CAS Reg. No. 122-20-3) at a maximum use level of 1.5% by weight of the FCS. The FCS is not for use in contact with infant formula and human milk. Such uses were not included as part of the intended use of the substance in the FCN.
