Mitsubishi Chemical Corporation

According to Section 409(h)(1)(C) of the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act, food contact substance notifications (FCNs) are effective only for the listed manufacturer and its customers. Other manufacturers must submit their own FCN for the same food contact substance and intended use.
Food Contact Substance: 2,6-naphthalenedicarboxylic acid, polymer with 1,4-benzenedicarboxylic acid, 1,4-butanediol and 4,4'-(1,3,6,8-tetrahydro-1,3,6,8-tetraoxobenzo[lmn][3,8]phenanthroline-2,7-diyl)bis[benzoic acid].

Intended Use: As an ultraviolet light absorber in polyethylene phthalate polymers complying with 21 CFR 177.1630 used in contact with foods.
Limitations/Specifications: For use only at levels not to exceed 3.3 percent by weight of the finished polyethylene phthalate polymers. The finished FCS may be used in contact with all food types, under conditions of use B through H, as described in Tables 1 and 2, respectively.
