According to Section 409(h)(1)(C) of the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act, food contact substance notifications (FCNs) are effective only for the listed manufacturer and its customers. Other manufacturers must submit their own FCN for the same food contact substance and intended use.
Food Contact Substance: 2-Pyridinethiol-1-oxide, sodium salt (CAS Reg. No. 3811-73-2).

Intended Use: To be used as an antimicrobial agent in adhesives and in components of adhesives in paper towels for use in contact with aqueous and fatty foods.
Limitations/Specifications: The FCS will be used as a 40 percent aqueous solution added to the adhesives at a level of 1000 ppm (wet/wet). The maximum level of the FCS in paper towels (on average) will not exceed 10 nanograms/cm2.
